Kingston and New Baltimore NY

After the rain there was a lot of mud and log debris in the river.  The S turn at West Point was especially filled with stuff floating down stream  including a partially submerged blue 50 gallon drum!!  After a 52.8 mile run up the Hudson, we docked at the Kingston NY Maritime museum which is up a creek that starts with a beautiful lighthouse.

The staff opened the Hudson Maritime Museum for us even though it was closed to the public that day and a volunteer walked us through each exhibit.  Bonus, the boaters lounge and bathhouse was Inside a wooden boat school! If that’s not enough, we are docked right next to an old McAllister steam tug !!!  The town is small and historic, we stayed a second day.

On the way north the next day we realized that the train tracks were now working again after the storm damage.  We arrived at Shady Harbor and watched the repair work on their docks from the storm.

Wow….. have you kept count of the number of museums you’ve visited?? It reminds me of people who go to Europe and comment on the endless number of churches! You have put a lot of miles behind you on this leg. How much further before you take a break? Hope the weather holds. The storms back east are getting a lot of attention here. Love the updates! Hugs!

Hi Ann, ya it’s pretty wild how far we have come this season, we will travel the entire length of the Erie to the western end at Buffalo, then double back a bit to the finger lakes. Close to that is where we will store the boat in a heated barn for the winter. We should be home by September.

We loved Kingston. The Maritime Museum is a small gem there too. Glad you dodged the floating stuff
