Summer break 2004 (are we seriously trying to build a boat?)

During the summer it was impossible to both build a boat and enjoy the California Delta (which was the reason we were trying to build a boat) so we took a break.

We did look at some other similar sized houseboats that were for sale, just to make sure there wasn’t anything easier or cheaper out there.  Everything we found in our price range needed significant repairs, many had soft fiberglass decks.  Essentially, every houseboat we looked at would end up costing the same as this boat but without the custom details we were hoping to do.

So as soon as the summer was over we began painting.

A little paint sure helps lift the spirits.
