Newport

We came into Newport with dour weather and moods to match.  It didn’t take long to fall under the spell of this incredibly sail friendly town.  The cliff homes were all set up for this weekends Regatta with their Adirondack chairs on the lawn even before entering the harbor.

We got a mooring ball and went in to check out the sights on the Wharfs.  We walked the streets where Brian lived when he worked in Newport.  When we got back to the boat, someone was doing a fireworks show – it was great!

We went on a harbor tour in the dinghy to see the monster boats, and the old ship by Ft. Adams.  There is so much “boat watching” of every size and kind, and people watching, I could stay here for a while.  On the way back, we went past the New York Yacht Club, setting up for their annual Regatta.

Ellen was excited to see all the classic Americans Cup 12 meter boats in the harbor match racing with the New York Yacht Club since “there is no romance in catamaran racing”

Newport was fun but we are off to Massachusetts!

Wow! Such adventures! Sorry that you dealt with the unfortunate MOB situation…..a difficult way to remind all of us boaters of how quickly a good time can turn disastrous. Nice that you are connecting with friends. Stay safe!
