Little Falls to Lake Oneida

Traveling on the Eastern Erie we got into the rhythm of how we like to lock (port side, lines not pipes) 😉 since we do several locks each day.  We have been locking up with the rise in elevation.

We stayed in Little Falls on the canal wall.  A cute office, boaters lounge, with showers was in a renovated canal terminal.

We biked through town and did some antiquing.

We stayed two nights at Little Falls and have met so many people who love the Western Erie, we want to get moving.  We left and went through several open flood gates and locks ( locking down now).  The canal is beautiful, like a large Dismal Swamp.  The water is clear and dark.  Speaking of which, the logs seem to be thinning out after the rain event!  We also saw so many herons, a few eagles and many ducks and geese.

We arrived in Sylvan Beach at their free wall and it’s Tuesday so the town is closed basically.  We walked around and it is a beach town stuck back in time.  The amusement park has all the old rides.  We had a lot of fun feeding the ducks and geese.

My goodness! The locks look daunting! Seems like you’re always “on”. Hope you get some down time to enjoy yourselves! Hugs!
