We had an early morning flight from Santa Rosa and then a good flight from LA to Nashville, made better by Ellen snagging us an upgrade to first class.
We drove our rental car 2.5 hours to the boat, drove to provision for a week, then borrowed the marina loaner minivan to return the rental. Its another great service for loopers, “just put some gas in before you come back”.
There are 15 other boats doing the loop on the guest dock at Green Turtle Bay (GTB) marina. They are boats large and small, but they all look like they get more sea time than many of the other boats in the marina. It can be a bit intimidating but we gave our boat card to a couple on a Mainship 34. They had just trucked the boat from San Diego and are starting next week, it felt familiar.
Today is boat cleaning and some dingy work. Ellen is all about inventory updates and making a list for final provisioning before we leave GTB. Still a little jet lag to shake off and some chart work for our next destinations which should be several anchorages along Kentucky Lake. We are anxious to see the water temperature in the coves that were SO hot in July. The weather is different than it was when we were here in the summer. The nights are cool but the days are warm. The sea life must like it, we had a lot of banging, scratching, and pecking on the hull last night~ either ducks or turtles!
We also added a new feature to the blog “Where are we right now?”. It should give you a quick look at the area around the boat in real time. If you would like something that looks more like Google Earth, anyone can download the Nebo Boat Tracking App and search for our boat.
A good quote from Outward Bound, “there are no shortcuts to places worth going to”
Yay! The adventure begins! Looking forward to your posts! Enjoy!
