Holley, Medina, Tonawanda and Niagara Falls

Holley was just a charming park with a beautiful waterfall to walk in and cool your feet.  We happened to be there for the summer concert and it was “the Old Hippies”  great tunes, sitting on the lawn and later from the boat.

We had a relaxing ride to Medina (Pronounced like, Nothing could be finer than to be in ole’ Medina in the Mooooorning).

This is an amazing part of the Erie where the cars go under the boat . I will try to get better pictures next time, it was raining pretty hard at that point and we were working on a docking strategy.

Then, bam, the skies opened up on us, we tied up and got drenched and waited til it let up a bit to hook up the power.  Once the rain stopped we walked around town.

The storm blew through and we headed to North Tonawanda, the furthest west this boat is going on this leg.  Just before we got there we approached Lockport where the staircase locks 34 & 35 give you a look at the old lock.

It was pretty dramatic going through.

Then we got to North Tonawanda and I really didn’t know what to think, the comments about staying here were not clear to me.  Then it became so clear.  The Western Erie is so beautiful and peaceful like the Dismal Swamp was and then, just like the shock of Norfolk, we are at the confluence of the river between two Great Lakes, we have Canada on one side and the Erie comes in perpendicular so you are surrounded on all sides by free walls filled with boats.

Brian would have done that in Pano but you get the idea.

We celebrated our 4500 miles plus so far in our Loop and happy to get as far west as we planned for this Leg.

We ubered to Niagara Falls, passports in hand and walked across the bridge to Canada!

Amazing!!
