July 2007

July 4th was great this year, we stayed at the slough and did our own fireworks but took a trip to Mandeville to check out the madness in the afternoon.  The weather was HOT and we spent most of the time floating in the water.
It’s difficult to explain to folks what it is to celebrate July fourth at Barron Hilton’s Duck club – here are some photos Mandeville madness or here Delta boating

The Sacramento trip was also beautiful. Georgiana Slough is such a peaceful place. We stayed in Sutter Slough overnight then on the way to Old Town we found a turtle in the river.  The current was strong and by the time we made it to Old Town we were only making 5.25 knots. We walked around Sacramento and met friends for dinner at Joe’s Crab Shack.  The trip back was so fast, there was so much wind and current, we made it all the way back to the slough averaging 8.5 knots.  We were excited about getting back to the sailboats – but the wind died as soon as we anchored.
