In New Smyrna Beach we anchored one night just before the bridge near the Yacht Club (which provides great free wifi as far as the anchorage). The next morning we moved to the city marina and started our play date with Manny and my cousin Jake. Lunch at the Corkscrew Bar & Grille then off to JBs fish camp beach bar to see Sean Holcomb with some of the Daytona bike week folks!
Some beach time then dinner in town at The Public House. Jake and I share a love of beach towns that goes way back to Long Beach, NY.
(Sharon, Carol, Jude, Barbara, Jake, Bruce, me. Btw my grandpa made that train for us!)
From New Smyrna, we anchored at “cement plant” which was a small canal leading to a Boston Whaler factory at the former cement plant. We dropped the hook in the center of the dead end channel, it was quiet and looked a bit like the rivers.
The next day the weather started turning and the wind picked up, but we were going downwind and it was a short run of 30 miles. The anchorage……..Fort Matanzas.
It was incredible to be right off the fort. The public ferry with the park ranger, was off the day we came so it was extremely quiet around the fort. We didn’t go on shore although some kayakers did. It was enough to look and take photos.
On to St Augustine for a week of sightseeing and rainy days to catch up on some boat work and paperwork.
You guys are getting some amazing photos!! Love following you!!!! Wish we could be doing it again!!
Love, love , love it!
